Summer Dose of Sun, Beach, and the Caribbean
The long awaited summer season is finally here.
After months of cold weather, we can now stash away our pullovers and, instead, show some skin. This month, we travel to the Caribbean and spend our first summer vacation in Saint Lucia.
Forming part of the many countries of the Lesser Antilles of the West Indies, Saint Lucia is an island along the Caribbean Sea. Tropical in climate, the country is world renowned for its endless white sand beaches and pristine bodies of water.
Probably the best way of touring the whole country is going onboard the Carnival Fascination Cruise Ship, Saint Lucia’s most luxurious and expensive cruising line that gives tourists and locals alike world class service with state of the art facilities. Departing from Pointe Seraphine in the capital of Castries, Carnival Fascination’s itinerary includes a stop within the fortified walls of Ibiza Town’s Dalt Vila. Declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, visitors can enjoy a two-hour guided tour around the citadel with a dramatization of the area’s affluent history at the end of the activity. Another stop is the Diamond Estate, a large land area in Soufrière, with attractions like the St. Lucia Botanical Gardens, Diamond Falls and its adjoining Diamond River, as well as sulphur springs and walking trails.
Moreover, be amazed at the beauty of the twin Piton Mountains whose peaks are clearly visible from miles away. A lava neck volcanic formation, the twin Piton Mountains consists of the taller Gros Piton and Petit Piton. Only a forty-minute travel time from Castries Harbor, mountaineers can climb all the way to the top of these mountains. For the less adventurous, the Jalousie Beach Resort enclosed between them is a great visit too.
Lastly, reach the northern tip of the country called Pigeon Island. Once inaccessible to any visitors, a man-made causeway was built out of dirt to connect the island to the mainland. Now a national landmark, tourists can either spend the day hiking up to the defensive citadel of Fort Rodney or go yachting in the Rodney Bay Marina. Whatever your preference, the region offers many recreational activities to choose from.
With fully immersive views and picturesque landmarks, make your first summer escapade the best it could be in Saint Lucia.
