Green Canyon Eco Art Resort
An ecological resort that is a growing masterpiece
Green Canyon Eco Art Resort waited six long years before opening its doors to the public. Originally a tree-planting project, the owners saw an opportunity to create a resort because of a lack of accommodations in the Clark Freeport Zone.
They then developed the property while preserving the natural environment, and pledged to making the family-owned resort as ecofriendly as possible.
The 29-hectare fenced property is sprawling with lush greenery endemic to the area, and some are even survivors of the Mt. Pinatubo eruption. Some trees within the resort are exported from Baguio, Laguna, Tagaytay and Batangas. The landscaping is designed to flow with the natural slope of the terrain, and an abundance of wildlife has made the resort their home.
The hotel itself feels one with the environment. Nature is brought indoors thanks to the wood furniture of designer and artist Niccolo Jose, whose studio is within the property and will soon be open to the public, with a library boasting of a grand collection of books on Philippine and Chinese history from the 1960s to the 2000s.
The resort’s facilities include an in-house restaurant called Palette, which serves a variety of fresh and delightful dishes whose ingredients are grown within the property. The restaurant even has a wet wall as a cooling system to naturally filter air.
Green Canyon Eco Art Resort wants to serve as a prime example of an eco-friendly resort to future developers in the area. Its ongoing renovations and plans for further development include a nursery project that will house more greens, bridges throughout the different areas of the resort, and even plans for a manmade lake. It’s as if the resort is growing together with the natural environment it aims to preserve. Visit the resort and see for yourself how art and nature can come together to create a refreshing sanctuary.
