A New Year for New Discoveries
Let’s all bid our goodbyes to 2013 as we celebrate and welcome a new year of new beginnings and new discoveries.
This month, we bring you the latest and best happenings as we travel to Amsterdam and experience its unforgettable and fascinating sights.
Considered as the most populous city at the Kingdom of Netherlands, Amsterdam is found in the western side of the country, tucked in the province of North Holland. It got its name when the city locals built a bridge with a dam across the River Amstel. From Amestelledamme, the name was changed into Amsterdam in 1327.
We invite you to take a stroll around the Keizersgracht or the Emperor’s Canal and the Amsterdamse Poort, the only remaining gate left of the twelve city gates surrounding the city. Join and witness SAIL Amsterdam, a famous maritime event where you can marvel at the various ships anchored at the city harbor. Or if you want to explore the canals, take a water taxi that will bring you to Amsterdam’s best tourist attractions such as the Munt Tower, the St. Nicholas Church and the Montelbaanstoren.
If you’ve had enough of water sceneries, Amsterdam also offers many magnificent structures at the center of the city such as the Central Station, the main railway station. Don’t miss visiting the Magna Plaza, Amsterdam’s 19th century post office building turned shopping haven; the Gooyer, Netherlands’ tallest wooden windmill; and the EYE Film Institute which showcases collections of film titles, posters and photographs dating back to 1895.
Let’s all greet the year 2014 with a blast by exploring the beauty of Amsterdam and have the perfect Dutch vacation that only the city can give.
A very happy New Year to everyone!
