Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort is one of the famous five-star resorts in Cebu—and the feeling of prestige was palpable the moment I first stepped foot into it.
Check-in was already a very pleasant experience, with the courteous staff giving us welcome drinks while wearing friendly smiles. The receptionist asked for our IDs and after a very fast check-in process, my friend and I were brought to our villa through a golf cart.
Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort has 163 well-appointed rooms and we were fortunate enough to have stayed in the Royal Bungalow. It’s one of the resort’s most sought-after villas, and it’s the best accommodation I’ve ever stayed at.
The villa itself is quite spacious that even if you are with your family, you would still feel that privacy and exclusivity. We had a beautiful beach view, and it’s not a surprise because the beach was basically at our doorstep! I can also tell that the developers are environment conscious because the staff practices waste segregation, and the resort has a functional landscape, as seen in one of the walkways made up of trellis full of vines. The bathroom also has natural lighting—which saves on the use of electricity.
During our stay, we took advantage of the room service, and what I love about it is that the food that we ordered all throughout was delicious and fresh, as if we were in the restaurant being served newly-cooked food. My favorite is the crispy adobo served in bamboo—it’s really good! I also tried their breakfast buffet at Allegro Restaurant, which has a wide selection of bread, fish, meat, and vegetables. It’s perfect not just for foodies, but also for those who practice a balanced diet.
They also have specials everyday so there is something to look forward to in the morning. I personally liked their omelette station, their native rice cakes (bibingka and puto paired with hot chocolate), as well as their fruit selection.
Aside from Allegro Restaurant, other restaurants to try in Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort include The Cove (with seafood as their specialty), Oyster Bar (for those who want to experience drinking cocktails by the beach), Molto Italiano (which serves Italian cuisine), and Amuma Juice Bar (which focuses on healthy food).
Spanning over seven hectares, it’s no surprise that Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort is teeming with things to do. Aside from its usual Cebu-island hopping tours, the resort offers vast areas for activities like billiards, table tennis, beach volleyball, fish-feeding, and chess (with giant chessboards!). The resort also has a playground and a kiddie playroom, making sure that the young ones will also enjoy their stay.
However, one thing that made the resort such a favorite are its water features. It has a 110-meter beach so clean, you can even see a school of fish in the shallow waters near the shore, as well as pristine fine sand perfect for walking barefoot. Aside from that, Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort also has a private island, three lagoon-shaped pools with falls, and a water sports center.
I love the politeness of the staff, who made sure that all of our requests were attended to immediately and efficiently. They fixed the rooms every day when we were away, and when we called for room service or anything we needed in the room, they Fish-feeding, jet skiing, and beach-frolicking are some of the many things to do at Bluewater
Maribago brought it at reasonable time, which I appreciated considering we were far from the main area. Also, since I stayed here on my birthday, the staff surprised me with a cake! They also sang me a birthday song! It was a really nice gesture.
The hotel staff was kind enough to grant us late checkout, and I appreciated that they asked us how our stay was. Like our check-in experience, checkout was a breeze.
I highly recommend the resort to friends and family because of its value for money. Personally, I am thinking of going back to the resort and staying in the same villa, this time with other friends. The serenity it offers is ideal for people who want to relax, and catch up with loved ones.
