Although the excitement within me was evident throughout the entire flight (given that this was my first time to visit Coron), it was not until I saw the warm greetings by Majika Island Beach Resort’s official driver that I realized just how much ecstatic I was to be there. The short ride was smooth, followed by a quick boat ride through the mangrove forest en route the resort.
When we arrived, the owner—Margaret “Majika” Palanca—instantly made me feel part of their family with her unbelievably accommodating personality. Instead of a formal handshake, she gave me a warm hug.
With Majika Island Beach Resort’s strategic location, visitors can basically get everything they want in a home away from home—stunning views of Coron Bay, a quick car ride from Francisco B. Reyes Airport, and short trips from attractions such as Mount Tapyas, all the while maintaining that lost-in-the-island vibe of the resort.
As a three-star hotel accommodation in Coron, Majika Island Beach Resort provides guests seven rustic rooms that all offer private balconies and bathrooms with a shower. Also, the daily housekeeping was so efficient it pushed back the clean-freak in me for days.
It was probably the overflowing hospitality of Margaret that was passed on to her staff, as my every need was catered to immediately, and every question was answered the best way they could. Aside from that, the resort also offers childcare assistance, tour and ticket services, and round-trip airport transfers.
Since Majika Island Beach Resort is located near Bintuan Mangrove Park and other marine sanctuaries, the resort offers unique diving tours in Bintuan locations. For nondivers, there’s the usual Coron Bay Tour, which gives you the chance to see Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoon, and CYC Beach. But if you want to experience Coron the Majika way, hike up to their private hill to give you a 360-degree view of Calamian Islands, or spend your day in their private white sand beach— which they maintain a secret, so much so that they refused to give me its name.
Since they had my flight details, everything was in order in terms of airport transfers. It surprisingly became hard for me to bid goodbye to Margaret because I don’t think I’ve ever met someone as accommodating as her. As cliché as it may sound, the entire resort became my second home.
If you are a nature lover who seeks to do exciting activities, but also likes to have some serenity, Majika Island Beach Resort in Coron, Palawan is the perfect place for you. Idyllic, yet fun-filled, this island resort magically exceeds all expectations.
