“It’s all about the journey not the destination”
For a lot of people, the phrase tells them to enjoy the journey as much as the destination. But sometimes, doing so would cause the magic to fade when they reach their destination. They are faced by the truth that the place they have wanted to see is not as magnificent as it seems. When you ask them what the best destination is, they could never tell.
So while you’re looking for the answer to that question, why don’t we fly to Denmark for a while and think of this as a journey that goes on and on.
Wedged between the North Sea on the west and the Baltic Sea in the Southeast, Denmark is the smallest country of the Scandinavian nations. Unknown to many, the country was greatly influenced by German and Nordic tribes when they temporarily ruled over much of Scandinavia.
Wander around Copenhagen, the country’s capital and largest city, starting from the Nyhavn Canal, where you can see the harbor ships docked along the area. Composed of a variety of restaurants, bars and shops, the channel is one of Denmark’s popular tourist attractions. Other travel spots include the Palaces of Rosenborg and Christiansborg, which play an important role in the country’s rich history.
Enjoy the delight of being a kid in the Tivoli Amusement Park. Experience the extreme rides they offer such as the Dæmonen roller coaster and the boat rides in the Dragon Boat Lake.
Visit the museum built in honor of the famous Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. The museum has a collection of displays that represent Andersen’s life and works.
Also a must-visit is the Copenhagen City Hall and the Cathedral of the Amalienborg Royal Palace. Their architectural beauty and documented past that have become part of Denmark’s soul and character.
“It’s all about the journey not the destination,” as the phrase goes. Think of this trip as something you pass along the way, so go ahead and enjoy the moment. And just like a bridge that connects one island to another, you can hop to another country and search for a new adventure, inspired by Denmark to discover more.
