La Ville Lumière
Paris has been known by many names ̶ the world’s fashion capital, la ville lumiére or the City of Lights, the City of Love and so on. Despite its many monikers, Paris still offers that same air of mystery and charm to whomever visits it.
Situated on the north-bending arc of the river Seine, Paris’s strategic location has made it one of the key cities of Europe ̶ with its history a living testament to this. Long ago Paris was inhabited by a tribe of river people called the Parisii. Seeing its rich trade and commerce attracted the Romans, and under the leadership of Julius Ceasar, they conquered the city. It wasn’t until the reign of Julian the Apostle that Paris formally got its name. Today, the city is dubbed as one of the world’s leading business and cultural centers.
From the historic Paris Opera, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre museum to the iconic Eiffel Tower, it is not difficult to see why. Topping the list of the world’s tourism destination, Paris receives almost 39 million tourists per year.
This month, LaIsla transports you to this majestic City of Lights. Feel the soothing Parisian air as we walk you along the cobblestone streets, take in the history as we head to Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral and simply fall in love with this enchanting metropolitan. We know we did.
